Jersey to host UK National Swimrun Championship

Breca Swimrun is delighted to announce Jersey as the designated host of the 2021 UK National Swimrun Championship.

Jersey will welcome 120 of the top swimrun athletes from the UK, joining the existing field of competitors on 4 September. The Breca Jersey course sees athletes traverse across Jersey’s iconic bays and rugged coastal runs.

The Swimrun Championship will be a thrilling showdown between the best swimrunners in the UK. A revamped format of our points-based championship, will see some of the top domestic swimrun teams battling it out on Jersey’s shores.

Fred Newton, Managing Director, Breca Swimrun commented:

“Make no mistake, Jersey is our hardest course where participants will do battle with one of the highest tidal ranges in the world and the relentless up and down of coastal trails. The race is set to be a corker. Jersey has a strong and competitive field of local athletes, and we also hope to see some of our French swimrun friends joining us. Bonne chance!”

Senator Lyndon Farnham, Minister for Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture added:

“For the fifth year running, Jersey is proud to welcome the return of Breca Swimrun to the island and host the National Swimrun Championship. The event, which showcases the best of Jersey’s natural landscapes, endorses Jersey’s reputation as a world class destination for sports tourism. We wish athletes the best of luck, and hope they are able enjoy our unique hospitality and island experiences during their rest and relaxation.”

While the National Championship is aimed at the sharper end of the field, participants can expect the same welcoming atmosphere for all athletes, whether vying for the place on the podium or finishing the course.

The Championship is hosted in partnership with Visit Jersey, Inov8, Zone3 & Tribe Nutrition.
