Hot on the heels of RBC Super League Triathlon, the island will play host to Rat Race Brand New Ultra Tour of Jersey on 10-11 October 2020.

From city to summit and everywhere in between, Rat Race offers the largest selection of adventure challenges in Britain.

With over 40,000 participants annually, the Rat Race community presents an international distribution platform to reach prospective visitors who are seeking a runcation and weekend of adventure across iconic landscapes and challenging courses.

Rat Race events are aspirational yet attainable, with thousands taking part every year.  With back to back marathons taking in all the very best trails that Jersey has to offer, the event will appeal to those seeking an active island escape.

The Ultra Tour of Jersey is a new and unique format to the island’s sporting calendar and will encompass a two day off-road running adventure, across breath-taking coastlines and countryside, racking up a total distance 52 miles.

Jim Mee, Race Director, Rat Race, commented:

“The island offers top class coastal running, brilliant vistas and the perfect landscape for us to add a stunning challenge to the 2020 calendar. With over 36 flights per day, and an average 1-hour flight from the UK, Jersey is well placed to host our Rat Race community. Rat Race are renowned for our bold concepts and for innovating trends in adventure sport. We can’t think of a better place to add our latest adventure than the picture-perfect yet rugged island of Jersey.”

Meryl Laisney, Head of Product & Events, Events Jersey added:

“With sea, sand and track all within easy reach, Jersey is a mecca for sporting events and activities. We are delighted to welcome the Rat Race community to the island in 2020. The addition of Rat Race to Jersey’s sporting event portfolio endorses the island’s credentials as an active destination and acts as catalyst for the island’s tourism development. Rat Race established overseas membership base enables Jersey to tap into a new inbound market and extend the visitor season.”

Senator Lyndon Farnham, Economic Development Tourism, Sport and Culture Minister, said:

“Adding to Jersey’s growing sporting events calendar, I am delighted to welcome Rat Race as a signature event to Jersey’s annual event calendar.  Sports tourism is a great way to extend Jersey’s seasonality and inspire visitors to discover the island break year-round, growing the productivity of our tourism economy.”

Rat Race will work in partnership with local event management company 3D Events who support a number of event organisers who bring their events to Jersey.
