UK event organisers inspired to discover Jersey

In late, April Events Jersey, hosted six corporate event organisers on a familiarisation (FAM) trip in the island break.

The objective of the FAM was to create awareness of Jersey’s capabilities as a year-round MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions) destination. Events Jersey presented opportunities to build relationships with the MICE sector to improve consideration of Jersey as a business events destination. Jersey is a place where people can come together to innovate, to be inspired, to be challenged, to be adventurous, to create, collaborate and communicate.

The group consisted of best prospect buyers from leading events companies including; Congress Bookers Ltd., Competition & Markets Authority, Johnson Matthey, Hulio, Strata, and EY.

The event specialists explored the island venue with an inspiring tour of Jersey’s unique events settings led by local ambassadors. The FAM trip showcased Jersey as an accessible events destination, with excellent flight connectivity, unique venues and authentic experiences and activities to discover year-round.

Meryl Laisney, Head of Product & Events, Events Jersey, commented

“Visit Jersey is keen to develop the island’s event portfolio, principally in the shoulder seasons. Jersey offers a diverse event space where the unique combination of land, coast, beach and sea provide immersive and authentic event experiences. With over 36 flights per day, and an average 1-hour flight from the UK, Jersey is well placed to welcome events. We are keen to work alongside event organisers to deliver experiences that generate and create lasting memories for visitors. We were delighted to give a warm welcome to the island break and showcase the potential of Jersey’s events capabilities.”

Over the three days, the group were invited to tuck into a serving of island life by exploring Jersey’s rich food offering. Highlights included Jersey’s ‘Shore to Chef’ experience, where buyers learnt about foraged ingredients with Kazz Padidar, local adventure guide, before joining Tasilli’s Head Chef at Grand Jersey for a feast celebrating the foraged food.

The group experienced the ultimate adventure rush with an abseil down 12th century Mont Orgueil Castle with Jersey Adventures and enjoyed a thrilling RIB adventure exploring the island’s breath-taking natural landscapes with Jersey Seafaris.

The FAM hosted event organisers who expressed a strong interest in accommodating small to medium scale events, based in the UK, with a proximity to London.

Following the FAM trip, Sophie Moss, Strata Create, said:

“I feel very privileged to have been invited along to this and to say that I have fallen a bit in love with Jersey is an understatement.  I look forward to my next trip, and to introducing clients to wonderful Jersey.”

Zara Brooks, Senior EA Ernst & Young, added:

“I loved every minute of it and couldn’t fault the experience. I’ve been showing all my colleagues the photos and most people hadn’t been to Jersey, so it’s made them think.”
