October is an excellent month to hold any form of large group movement to Jersey. The main reason being availability of beds and transport, and the ability to negotiate favourable rates with both accommodation and transport providers. C.I. Travel Group (CITG) supported with the organisation and administration of the Rotary District 1110 Conference for over 600 off-island delegates in October 2018.
Packed with inspiring quality speakers and memorable experiences, the event was hosted at Fort Regent, the site of a Napoleonic Fortress, spanning 22 acres and offering panoramic views of the town and the coastline. The event inspired visitors to discover the island break, with the opportunity to reconnect with nature and go behind the scenes at Jersey Zoo, to exploring Jersey’s Occupation story at the Jersey War Tunnels and other World War Two sites.
CITG developed a package for the event, with an overall price which included:
CITG negotiated nightly rates with a range of hotels all located within the St. Helier ring road for ease of transfers and access to and around the island. CITG also agreed with the carriers operating from Southampton a bulk group rate. In addition, special rates with Condor Ferries were agreed for both foot passengers and for vehicle transportation.
Whilst the actual conference took place over a 3-day period, many delegates chose to revitalise in the natural elements of Jersey and retreat for a 4/5 night escape.
Events Jersey supported Rotary with inspiring ideas and recommendations. To encourage delegates to explore the island, Events Jersey provided Rotary with access to curated imagery to reflect the abundance of colour and vibrancy of Jersey’s story. These featured in the event website, brochure and dedicated app. From the island’s coastline and countryside to the natural beauty of its beaches and authentic food experiences, Rotary repurposed inspirational itineraries and suggested experiences from jersey.com and shared these with delegates in the event app.
Many local Rotarians were involved and gave a warm welcome to delegates to leave visitors with lasting memories of the island break.
