Durrell Challenge 2020

Victoria Park to Jersey Zoo

The Durrell Challenge which is kindly sponsored by Butterfield Bank is a timed 13K road race. Runners will be treated to a stunning scenic running route which runners will start the heart of the island, taking them through lush green valleys and ending in the beautiful Jersey Zoo.  Organisers encourage people of all abilities from around the globe to take part to raise valuable funds for the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust. As in previous years, the 13k road race is just one element of a day of festivities welcoming everyone to Jersey Zoo for a Really Wild Day to raise valuable funds for this worthy cause.

Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon 2020 – Cancelled

Weighbridge, St. Helier

The Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon is split into three categories, Marathon, Relay Race and 3K Fun Run, attracting over 2,500 entrants with over 60% of marathon runners coming from off-island. The event welcomes a variety of runner types, elite athletes compete for prize money and times, while corporate teams vie for the prestige of winning the trophy and many others compete to do something truly amazing for the benefit of others. True Grit Wet Wheels Challenge

Ronez Quarry

The True Grit Wetwheels Challenge is taking place on Sunday 18 October – are you up for the challenge?
The challenge has been adapted to comply with the latest government guidelines in regard to COVID-19 and we are delighted to share our unique and fundraising challenge with you:

Our challenging 4.3KM course is set in a unique and stunning location, taking runners on a challenging adventure through the

Ronez Limited Quarry site on Jersey’s rugged North coast. Numbers will be capped to ensure that the event complies with the latest Government of Jersey’s Level 1 guidelines.
The physical route involves tough terrain, loose gravel and challenging climbs. Runners will make their way down into the ‘The Pit’ 28 metres below sea level before navigating their way back out around the gigantic Ronez machinery and equipment to reach the panoramic views of the north coast of Jersey at the finish. The course elevation total is 130m!

Black Butter 2020

The Elms, St. Mary

Embrace the community spirit and participate in the ancient art of making Black Butter which takes place over three days at The Elms, the headquarters of the National Trust for Jersey. Apples grown for cider were once Jersey’s main crop. Today fewer cider apples are grown but the making of black butter (Le nièr beurre) carries on. Come along and peel apples, which are then cooked in a large copper pan or ‘bachin’ over an open fire or help to stir the mixture which is cooked until dawn. The event culminates in a produce market where the freshly made Black Butter is put into jars and sold.

World Wetlands Day – 40 Year Anniversary

The Wetlands Centre

On February 2nd 1971, the Convention for Wetlands was adopted by seven countries, and have since been joined by 170 parties to help to protect one of the world’s most important ecosystems. It is now the oldest global international environmental agreement and preserves over 2,000 wetlands.

Join our lands team and education officers in our wonderful Wetlands Centre to celebrate 40 years of working to protect these valuable wild areas. Take part in engaging activities to learn about the flora and fauna of our precious reed beds, and the importance of this precious habitat to the wellbeing of our island and indeed our world.

The Awakening Wellness & Fitness Festival 2021

Celebrating the wellness and fitness movement, The Awakening Wellness & Fitness Festival will include a stage with celebrity fitness and live podcasts, as well as number of workshops, from fitness, to meditation and mindfulness, creativity. Healthy food, boutique shopping and children’s activities will also be on offer. Alice Liveing, a personal trainer with 630k Instagram followers, and a food writer and Jasmine Hemsley, a TV presenter, have been announced as the guests of Jersey’s first ever Festival.

The Jersey International Motoring Festival 2021

Steep winding hills and straights beside the long beaches provide the perfect combination for a motoring festival, and Jersey has it all. The RUBiS Jersey International Motoring Festival is the largest annual motoring event in the Channel Islands, with competitive sprint and hill climbs for classic and vintage cars and motorcycles, a touring event for visitors and locals alike visiting various places of interest and stopping for refreshments around the island.

The aim of the event is to raise valuable funds for the Bloodwise Charity, through participating in a fun kids triathlon event. The event is open to children of all abilities aged between 6 to 13 (Years 2-8). This event is designed to be fun and non competitive. Our aim is to see every single participant successfully complete the course.

The Triathlon event is family friendly and offers plenty of entertainment, food and drink options and plenty of prizes to be won.

The People's Park

The festival returns next summer with an even bigger line-up and even loftier ambitions. In 2021 the festival will feature two stages.

The Main Stage is headlined by the chart-topping, multiple platinum-selling, BRIT Award-winning and GRAMMY® Award-nominated star Jessie J, who is joined on the bill by Razorlight, Dr Hook and a further two acts to be announced. A brand new VIP Acoustic Lounge will host an eclectic line up of artists.

Rat Race Ultra Tour of Jersey 2021

From city to summit and everywhere in between, Rat Race offers the largest selection of adventure challenges in Britain.

Rat Race events are aspirational yet attainable, with thousands taking part every year.  The first of its kind in Jersey with back to back marathons taking in all the very best trails that Jersey has to offer, the event will appeal to those seeking an active island escape.

The Ultra Tour of Jersey is a new and unique format to the island’s sporting calendar and will encompass a two day off-road running adventure, across breath-taking coastlines and countryside, racking up a total distance 52 miles.
